Your awesome tagline

And then it hits you. The realization that the day you had always told yourself would come, is today. The day when you feel like you can give someone a genuine smile, and its the brightest one you’ve seen in years. The day when the person you love more than anything in this world is holding your hand and calling you “baby girl” and you feel your insides churning and bubbling, and you giggle. The day when you go for a drive with your best friends, and you laugh and feel the wind in your hair and you smell the earth and every thing is beautiful. You realize that it’s all happening right now and you made it and you are alive and it’s more than you could have asked for. Because darling it gets so much better.

Let’s go on a road trip.“ I wanted to say, “I’ll pack a toothbrush and you bring the camera.

"Let’s drive to new cities where we’ve never been, and fall in love with the noise. Let’s set up camp at the bottom of a mountain; go hiking until we reach the sun. Let’s fall asleep along the beach and wake up with the ocean at our feet.

"Let’s laugh at the way we get caught in the rain. Let’s kiss under a hundred trees. Let’s wake up at 5am and watch the sunrise, or wake up at 11am and let the sunrise watch us.

I wanted to say, "Let’s fall in love like it’s the first time. Let’s pretend to meet again. Maybe this time we’ll be able to work things out. Maybe this time we won’t mess things up.”

I just got the weirdest feeling I swear

OK LISTEN THERE ARE REASONS FOR THIS!!!

A lot of these places are called liminal spaces - which means they are throughways from one space to the next. Places like rest stops, stairwells, trains, parking lots, waiting rooms, airports feel weird when you’re in them because their existence is not about themselves, but the things before and after them. They have no definitive place outside of their relationship to the spaces you are coming from and going to. Reality feels altered here because we’re not really supposed to be in them for a long time for think about them as their own entities, and when we do they seem odd and out of place.

The other spaces feel weird because our brains are hard-wired for context - we like things to belong to a certain place and time and when we experience those things outside of the context our brains have developed for them, our brains are like NOPE SHIT THIS ISN’T RIGHT GET OUT ABORT ABORT. Schools not in session, empty museums, being awake when other people are asleep - all these things and spaces feel weird because our brain is like “I already have a context for this space and this is not it so it must be dangerous.” Our rational understanding can sometimes override that immediate “danger” impulse but we’re still left with a feeling of wariness and unease.

Listen I am very passionate about liminal spaces they are fascinating stuff or perhaps I am merely a nerd.

I, for one, appreciate your passion for liminal spaces and thank you for explaining it to the rest of us.

5 things I wish I knew about you:

1. You overthink, and not just when you’re upset. I can ask you a yes or no question and you will go through some sort of insane mental process that drives me crazy before you provide an answer.

2. You’re lost. You’re so lost. And not like the way I get when I look into your ocean eyes, but you’re lost in a way where only you can find yourself once you know what you want in life. I only say this because I’ve tried for many years now to help you get found, but I was only making you more lost by doing so. And for that, I’m sorry.

3. You’re sensitive. And I am too but I’m better at hiding it which is why I know of you.

4. You’re curious and you question the world, with so much dignity and a hidden personality. You strive in foreign land, speaking words amongst those who have ever doubted you. You’re not afraid to go out there, alone. But that’s the thing, you’re never [alone].

5. You’re a lover. A lover of everything and everyone there is to see. And that is the biggest thing I wish I knew, because I’ve learned that you’ll never be in love with only me, you need more than just a single being.

And so these are the things I wish I knew. To the person who will occupy your life next, I pass this on to you. Just know, she loves you a lot, she just has her own way of showing it.
